About

This organization was formed to preserve the rich history of the former Ramey AFB, Aquadilla, Puerto Rico.

Built in 1939, and closed in 1973, it was then known as Borinquen Army Field, until September 18, 1948, when it was renamed Ramey Air Force Base. This was in honor of Brigadier General Howard K. Ramey ( 1896 – 1943 ), who was killed in the South Pacific on a reconnaissance mission during World War II

Today it is a civilian facility known as Rafael Hernandez Airport, and is also home base to the U.S. Customs & Immigration Service and United States Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen Puerto Rico
